After years of working in the traditional 9-5 world I left my job in May 2001 and have never looked back. Although I have a BFA in Photography my love of intense hands-on work determined the path I would take. In 2003 I signed up for a Tinsmithing workshop presented by the Taos Institute of Art, drove to New Mexico, sleeping in my pick-up and camping in the mountains. That week long workshop changed my life and I have been working in tin ever since. Currently I am a full time artist living and working in the woods of West Michigan and participating in fine art fairs throughout the Midwest and South. I have had several solo shows and have work in galleries throughout the Midwest. I employ repousse techniques and handmade tools to pound and score intricate designs into tin, and most recently, copper. I am constantly inspired by the verdant nature that surrounds me, as well as the craftsmanship and credos of the Arts and Crafts Movement, and it is these botanically inspired designs that I am excited to now be translating into stencils.
