This motif is ideal for a stencil design and it includes marks that encircle and frame the leaf, as well as the words “find joy” - a wonderful reminder for everyday life, as well as encouragement to find joy in nature.

This stencil is part of the "Stitched Messages" series, all of which hold a special symbolic meaning to Roxanne. The stencils in this series all include marks and patterns designed as stitching guidelines, but they work equally well as patterns with ink, paint, etc... to create focal points in mixed media artwork, art journals, and more.

Want to try using this stencil for stitching? Here are a few tips from Roxanne:
- Make sure your paper is sturdy
- Add matte medium or clear gesso for if needed
- Poke your holes ahead of time with an awl
- Use a tapestry needle
- Be gentle and stitch one stitch at a time
