Birgit says: 'I discovered a drawer filled with old crocheted doilies at my mother’s house—beautiful pieces my grandmother had made, but that were no longer being used. Instead of letting them disappear into a drawer, I started using them as printing tools on my gel plate. The intricate patterns created such beautiful and unexpected textures that they quickly became a favorite in my work, and I received so many enthusiastic reactions that I wanted to make these patterns available to other artists.
