Description

Jennifer Evans designed Paisley Tulip Border for her Paisley Florals collection.

The Paisley motif has been around for centuries. Some trace its beginnings to ancient Babylon or in weavings dating back to the first millennium BC. The paisley, known as "boteh" or "buta" refers to the teardrop shape and has been used in weavings, fabric and home decor by people worldwide. Depending on the culture, it can symbolize a tree, fire, the yin-yang symbol, or a spray of floral elements.

Step-and-repeat this 4"x4" paisley to design a whole continuous strip. The inspiration for this stencil came from borders used on wool shawls and silk scarves worn initially by aristocrats, then later as widely popular fashion.
